I started writing this entry whilst sitting on the toilet. Eww who brings their phone to the toilet with them? I'll tell you who, a mum of 3 whose only escape for a bit of peace and quiet is whilst sitting on the throne.
Don't worry. I'm not actually relieving anything. Sometimes I just come in here to reply to emails, scroll through a bit of social media, respond to WhatsApp messages and sometimes play catch up with my "words with friends"...
The oddest thing is, you would have thought this strange occurance is only of a mum during lockdown when in fact it's been a practice since the kids were little yet still old enough to be "left alone" for 5 minutes.
You'd be surprised how much you can do uninterrupted for 5 minutes! Hahahaha!
The reason for this entry? Well an update of course.
Many of you have wondered how we've been doing since the lockdown here in London commenced and to be honest, like everyone (I'm sure) it's been a bit rocky.
We've had ups and downs but as each day passes we're all learning how to just get on with it.
Homeschooling has been a bit daunting but with the reassurance of teachers and fellow parents it's been calmer.
It's now the Easter holidays however that soon will be over which means back to some kind of routine.
We've been using our white board at home to write down tasks of the day. A daily schedule we've tried to fulfill.
It's been tough juggling the business, kids and homeschooling mind but we're doing the best we can.
I decided to get the kids some tops made for whilst they study. They and YOU helped us come with the name of our home-school - Panda Academy. Thank you to everyone who voted on our Instagram stories! :)
We're just trying to find fun ways of staying upbeat in this difficult period of awkwardness, sadness and uncertainty.
I've made a conscious decision to not watch the news on repeat and also be mindful to how much of the news the kids catch onto.
I think it's important they know what's going on in the world, why we can't go out everyday and if we do why we need to take certain precautions.
I must say I feel exhausted.
I think it's safe to say that I've always been the more patient person in the household but this lockdown has definitely tested that.
I suffer a lot with anxiety and have had my severely depressed moments of which I've found challenging on a day to day basis, however I'm pretty surprised how well I've coped so far. #giveyourselfpropsmamapanda lol.
Perhaps it's because I haven't given myself enough of a break to actually think? I've actively kept myself busy doing chores around the house, rearranging cupboards, reorganising files and generally decluttering.
I've been trying to make our little London flat more functional - it's been a mission considering there's 5 of us in a 2 bed! However, I wouldn't trade it right now for the world.
That's where I start thinking about how blessed we are. We have a roof over our heads, food (when there's enough of it) in our bellies and happy and healthy children.
We've had our scares with Emil and Shayne falling ill in the same week - to which we had to isolate for 14 days but touch wood they've been fine since. #TheBenji had the chickenpox too but is now fully recovered - yay!
I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about my upcoming hospital appointments being cancelled as you know I've been going through my own health issues, however, we're home, we're safe and that's what we intend to keep happening for the time being.
So this is our little update, I'd love to hear yours!
Dm me on Instagram or drop us an email, whatever! I'm so ready to listen/read.
Even if it does mean escaping to my throne to do so. ;)
Stay safe and speak soon,
